Jun Ni received a Bachelor of Engineering in Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering
Institute (Harbin Engineering University) in 1982, and a Master of Science
in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1984. He
received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa
in 1991. He worked at Purdue University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate
until 1994. He was apoointed as a Senior Computing Consultant at Advanced
Research Computing Services (ARCS) and then Information Technology Services
at the University of Iowa. He currently holds his appointment as
Research Scientist and Manger of Scientific Computing and High Performance
Computing at Academic Technology-Research Services of the University of
Iowa. He is Adjunct Associate Professor and a Master/Ph.D. graduate
student advisor of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department, Computer
Science Department, and Radiology Department at the University of Iowa,
respectively. He is the Director
of Medical Imaging High Performance Computing Lab at Radiology Department,
College of Medicine and Director
of HPC Nanotechnology Research Lab at Univ. of Iowa.
He specializes in mathematical modeling and simulations, numerical methods and algorithms, high performance computing for science and engineering, medical imaging, computational nanotechnology, thermal science and mechanical systems, materials processing, data visualization and virtual reality. He is a member of IEEE Computer Society, ACM, and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), and Federation of American Scientists (FAS). He serves USA national coalition committee in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM).. He is an editorial board member of several international journals and review panel committee for professional book publishers. He serves general/program chairs and committee in many international conferences on computer and computational sciences. |
